How can Kinesiology help the body?
Kinesiology by-passes the conscious mind to speak directly to the body using muscle monitoring techniques.
If the body does not feel safe, it may subconsciously be resisting change. Muscle monitoring can identify where there are differences between what the conscious mind may state and what the subconscious believes or accepts. For some people this can be the missing link which explains why they may have tried everything to overcome a longstanding problem but had limited success.
An example of this I can offer is when I was suffering from depression in my mid-twenties. I only lasted about 6 months on anti-depressants from the doctor before my being revolted against the feeling of dependency on taking a little pill at the same time every day or I’d start to feel nauseous and shaky. I moved on to seeing a Naturopath and Bowen Therapist and dutifully eliminated stimulants and depressants like tea, coffee and alcohol from my diet and started taking magnesium and other supplements. Things did improve, but after a while I plateaued at a point lower than I hoped to get to and the therapist couldn’t understand why I still had the negative feelings of self-doubt and lack of confidence about myself that I would share.
It was shortly after this that I (randomly? haha) met someone at a property investment seminar who told me about her kinesiologist Peter and the amazing results she’d had through seeing him. I went along without really knowing what to expect and can remember sitting there in the first appointment slumped in a chair telling him how I had low self-esteem and lack of self-confidence in spite of being outwardly “successful” in my career and personal life. This was such a turning point to me to have an avenue for healing and personal growth that didn’t rely on my conscious mind being able to figure out the answers. I was such a left-brained person at the time having completed my environmental engineering degree and commenced working as an environmental consultant, however I have always been interested in spirituality and personal growth and in that moment I chose to see where it could take me.
Fast forward 20+ years and what began as an interest and hobby has become a profound tool in my life and seen me through all major (and minor!) life events since then. This has included depression and anxiety, relationship stresses, work stress, pregnancy, mis-carriage, birth and parenthood.
I have studied a number of different styles of kinesiology and attained a Certificate IV in Kinesiology and International Diploma of Integrated Healing. I combine this training with my own life experience, other learnings and intuitive sense to evaluate what your body requires in every session for you to attain the outcomes you seek.
If this is an avenue of healing that you’d like to explore, I’d love to hear from you!
